“In therapy, I see myself in the mirror differently.” - Ricky Williams

Welcome! I’m Kate, a Clinical Psychologist dedicated to  guiding people in understand themselves better, to achieve their goals and to create meaningful, lasting change in their mental well-being. So let's get started!

MY APPROACH

Getting Started: Whether you're seeking therapy, understanding your neurodivergence, or supervision for your practice, our journey begins with a welcoming initial session. This first meeting is all about getting to know you, understanding what you’d like to achieve, and ensuring we’re the right match to work together.

Individual Therapy: In your first appointment, we’ll explore your background and the challenges you’d like to address. Together, we’ll create a plan using proven, supportive approaches to help you build clarity, confidence and wellbeing. I offer flexible support—whether you need short-term help during a tough patch, or ongoing therapy for deeper, lasting change. My aim is to keep sessions accessible, predictable and affordable.

Therapy Style: I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies—like Schema Therapy, DBT, CBT, Behavioural Parenting, Exposure-Based Treatments (e.g. Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, Exposure Therapy for Specific Phobias)—tailored to each adult or teen. At heart, my approach is human-centred and compassion-focused, infused with warmth, humour, and honest support.

How We Meet: Choose from telehealth, telephone or in-person sessions to suit your needs.

I support adults and adolescents with:

  • Depression, anxiety, and stress

  • Difficulty experiencing emotion (alexithymia)

  • PTSD and trauma recovery

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Support for first responders and veterans

  • Chronic pain

  • Physical health problems and neurological symptoms

  • Panic attacks

  • Parenting challenges and adjustment

  • Relationship issues

  • Emotion regulation

  • Neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, etc.)

  • Burnout and perfectionism

  • A need for an individual DBT therapist to support group DBT therapy

Autism & ADHD Assessments: ASD and ADHD Assessments are currently available online, making them accessible to adults Australia-wide. If you’re considering an assessment for Autism or ADHD, I offer a free phone chat to walk you through the process and answer any questions. I’ll explain my approach over the phone and support you every step of the way. Before starting, we’ll have a brief intake call and you’ll complete a questionnaire or two to ensure we’re able to proceed. To enquire, please contact me directly on 0434 723 403 or email psychologistkate@gmail.com.

*Please note: I do not take clients for eating disorders (find specialists at https://insideoutinstitute.org.au) or those involved in legal matters.

Board-Approved Supervision

I am a board-approved supervisor registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with experience supervising clinicians in private practice and university settings. I offer clinical supervision that is supportive, reflective, and grounded in evidence-based practice. Drawing on extensive experience in complex casework and attachment-informed approaches, I aim to help psychologists deepen their formulation skills, strengthen their therapeutic effectiveness, and grow with confidence in their professional identity. Psychologists and Provisional Psychologists can email me at psychologistkate@gmail.com or call me on 0434723403 to inquire about supervision.

Fees and Rebates

Funders: I accept referrals for clients who pay privately, under a Mental Health Care Plan referral, under a Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) referral or who are funded via the NDIS.

Session fees: fees vary depending on the type, length, and location of the appointment, as well as the day of the week. Please email me for further information. However, typically an out of pocket fee of around $70-$90 applies for Medicare clients. Fee reductions can be considered under conditions of financial hardship. NDIS clients' sessions focus on capacity building and are billed in line with the NDIS's set schedule of fees for this type of support.

Referrals and Rebates for Therapy: Clients can ask their doctor for a referral under DVA or a Mental Health Care Plan. Sessions under DVA are covered in full and each referral can be made for up to 12 sessions. Under a Mental Health Care Plan, eligible individuals can receive a Medicare rebate of approximately $144 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year (out of pocket costs can apply). Clients who pay privately may be able to take their paid invoices to claim a rebate their private health insurer, if applicable.

Session Length: Face-to-face, telephone and telehealth sessions typically last for 50 minutes under DVA and Medicare, whereas under the NDIS they typically last around 60 minutes. Occasionally sessions will extend up to 90mins where indicated, for example, during exposure therapy and chairwork (a Schema Therapy technique) sessions.

Fees for ADHD and ASD Assessments: Each person's assessment may vary, depending on the nature of their presentation and referral, but usually the cost is between $1500-1700, inclusive of a report.

Please note, I do not do court reports or medico-legal reports. â€‹
